Week 8 – Stevens Falcons vs Taft Raiders

Posted on 10/19/201411/04/2025 by Mark
My Thursday and Friday games had some incredible individual stats.  Antonio Lopez, the Brackenridge Eagle quarterback, was 16 of 27 passing for 299 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.  Receiver, Lee Terrell, had 6 receptions for 174 yards.  Terrell is now number 1 and Lopez is still number 2 (about 300 yards behind Kyle Fuller, the Lee quarterback) in their respective categories in the area.  Daniel Rosenfeld, the Antonian Apache running back, had 37 carries for 368 yards and 6 touchdowns.  Daniel is now the leading rusher in the area.

Last night, I was at Gustafson stadium as the Stevens Falcons played the Taft Raiders and I got to see 2 more players who have put up huge numbers…Stevens quarterback, Bobby Chacon and Taft running back, Christian Mallard.  Coming into the game, Chacon had 1,700 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions and Mallard had 1,102 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns.

I saw Chacon play in Week 3 and he struggled against the Clemens Buffaloes defense (don’t worry, a lot of teams struggle when they play Clemens)…16 of 26 passing for 108 yards and 1 interception. This would be my first time seeing Mallard.

The final score was Stevens 28 and Taft 14.  Stevens has 5 wins and 2 losses and is 2 and 0 in District 27-6A Zone A.  Man, they play Brennan on Halloween and the winner (which probably will be Brennan but I won’t count out Stevens ) will play either Brandeis or O’Connor for the District 27-6A championship.

The Taft Raiders ran 60 plays for 243 yards.  Christian Mallard had 23 carries for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. KJ Stephens, a back-up running back, had 7 carries for 34 yards and 3 receptions for 28 yards.

The Stevens Falcons ran 55 plays for 399 yards.  Quarterback, Bobby Chacon, was magnificent as he was 26 of 36 passing for 336 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Oh, he also had 11 carries for 32 yards and 1 touchdown.  Xavier Ortiz, one of the 5 receivers he threw to, had 7 receptions for 143 yards and 1 touchdown and Tyrek Allen had 7 receptions for 75 yards.  Almost every time Chacon threw the ball, he had time to Tweet!!

Stevens doesn’t have a running game and that could hurt them in the playoffs.  Their leading running back is Tyrek Allen, but he recently moved to wide receiver.

What a great Week 8 of football for me…I worked 3 games and 6 players (Antonio Lopez, Lee Terrell, Mike Ramirez, Daniel Rosenfeld, Bobby Chacon, and Christian Mallard put up a total of 1,568 yards!!  WOW!!!  Damn, I got a great gig!!!!!

Dude, can I choose all of those players for my Week 8 Player of the Week?  The answer is YES because it is my BLOG and I can do whatever I want.

Next Thursday, I will be at Gustafson stadium again as the Marshall Rams play the Holmes Huskies. I don’t think either of these teams have a chance of making the playoffs.

On Friday, I will easily have the best game (Steele and Judson is a very close 2nd) as the Brandeis Broncos play the O’Connor Panthers.
